If you love fighting games and would like to take a break from
first person shooters and play a Fighting game that requires excellent timing
awesome moves and actual skill, BlazBlue is for you. During one of my many
trips to GameStop I realized I had grown quite tired of your average video
games and I was handed this game.
BlazBlue
is a traditional 2D fighter (Similar to Street Fighter) where two characters
duke it out. A round is called a "rebel" and one match can consist of
one to five "rebels". To win a round, one player must either defeat
the other by causing damage from some seriously sweet attacks to bring their
foes health to zero or by having more health than their opponent after the
clock runs out.
While
similar to Street Fighter on the surface, it is completely different once you
start playing it. The story line to this game is so rich and intense with some
pretty funny (and awkward) moments thrown in there too! I won’t spoil it for
you, but the game is basically based in a Post-Apocalyptic world where Order is
everything. And thanks to an organization called the Novus Orbis Librarium,
order is maintained. However, not everyone enjoys this order, you are fortunate
enough to play as Ragna the Bloodedge and take down the Librariums’ top
soldiers. And be warned, the choices you make in this game reflect on whether
or not you get the true ending!
Aside
from the intricate story, the design is also something to marvel at. The characters
and backgrounds are so beautifully designed that for me, I believe that this
could really happen. It is of course a Japanese Anime style artwork so you know
that they definitely took their time making these.
Currently the titles of this game are:
BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger (PC, Xbox 360,
PS3)
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (Xbox 360, PS3)
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II (PSP, Nintendo
DS)
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (PSP, PS3,
Xbox 360, and PS Vita)
